Provincial Civil Service also called  PCS, is the administrative civil service under Group A state service of the executive branch of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The Department of Appointment and Personnel of the Government of Uttar Pradesh is the cadre-controlling authority of the service. Along with the Provincial Police Service (PPS) and the Provincial Forest Service (PFS), the PCS is one of the three feeder services to its respective All India Services.

What is PCS exam?

There are mainly two types of exams in India. First is central government exam which is conducted at the national level like UPSC i.e. Union Public Service Commission and second is PSC i.e. Public Service Commission Exam conducted across the states of India like UPPSC MPSC etc.

The lower age limit is 21 years and upper age limit is 40 years. Relaxation in upper age limit will be allowed to candidates in reserved categories as per government norms. Candidates can refer to the official notification for the same.

What is eligibility for PPSC exam?

. Age limit Criteria: The candidate applying for the Punjab PCS Exam 2020 must have attained a minimum age of 21 years and should not have attained the age of 37 years on 1^st January in the year in which exam is conducted.

Is there any negative marking in PPSC exam?

Written Test paper may be Descriptive/Subjective Type or Multiple Choice, Objective Type (MCQs) or combination of both. Syllabus and details are available on the PPSC website. (2) Negative marking will be done and 0.25 marks shall be deducted for each wrong answer in the Multiple Choice/Objective/MCQ’s paper.

How is PPSC merit calculated?

PPSC calculate merit from 190 marks.  PPSC conducts written test of 100 marks. The passing marks are 40. And 50% of the written marks are calculated in the final merit of PPSC.
